Important Notice: Verifying Driving Instructors

Important Notice: Protecting Your Information

Why We Don’t Publish Our Instructors’ Details

We prioritize the safety and privacy of our driving instructors and students. Unfortunately, there have been instances where unscrupulous individuals have used the details and pass photos of legitimate instructors to scam people on social media platforms like Facebook.

To prevent this, we have decided not to publish the personal details of our Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs) and Potential Driving Instructors (PDIs).

How to Verify a Valid ADI or PDI

It is crucial to ensure that you are dealing with a legitimate driving instructor. Here are some steps you can take to verify if someone is a valid ADI or PDI:

  • Check the ADI Badge: A valid ADI should have a green badge displayed on the windscreen of their car. A PDI will have a pink badge. The rear of the badge will display a photo of the instructor and their details.
  • Search the ADI Register: You can verify an instructor’s credentials by searching the official ADI Register on the GOV.UK website. You can search for this service on GOV.UK. (Note: not all instructors choose to have their details displayed on the website register).
  • Contact the DVSA: The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) will be able to confirm if a person is on the register of instructors. You can find contact details for the DVSA on the GOV.UK website.

Stay Safe Online

Be cautious of individuals claiming to be driving instructors on social media. Always verify their credentials through official channels.

Avoid sharing personal information such as photos of your driving licence details with anyone you haven’t verified.

Legitimate instructors needing to verify your licence details should be using the official GOV.UK “Share your driving licence information” service, not asking for photos of your driving licence.
